Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) is a federal funding source created to assist areas in attaining or maintaining air quality standards under the Clean Air Act, by reducing mobile transportation emissions. In Michigan, the CMAQ program is administered by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The only county eligible for these funds in Region 2 is Lenawee County. Meetings for CMAQ projects are on an as-needed basis. The CMAQ Committee is comprised of one representative of the following agencies: Lenawee County Road Commission, Lenawee Public Transportation Authority, City of Adrian, and City of Tecumseh.
