Finally, information about the various federal congressional and state legislative districts which serve Region 2 is also provided. | A Summary of the Population in 2000 A total of 303,839 people lived in the Region 2 Area in the Year 2000, according to the US Census. Jackson County had the highest population with 158,392 people. There were 98,920 residents in Lenawee County. The population of Hillsdale County was 46,527. Another way to explore this data is to look at population density. An average of 148 people resided in each of the 2,056 square miles of the Region. Hillsdale County had an average of 78 residents in each of its 599 square miles. There was an average of 132 people living in each of the 751 square miles of Lenawee County. Jackson County had an average of 224 residents in each of its 706 square miles.
