The Lenawee County Planning Commission (LCPC) has several responsibilities mandated by the County Planning Act (P.A. 282 of 1945) and the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners. Duties include reviews and recommendations on township zoning ordinance amendments, community land use and master plans, farmland and open space preservation agreements, and projects that involve federal and state funding. The LCPC also hosts a planning conference each year in April and is responsible for maintaining the County Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The LCPC has been designated as the Airport Zoning Board under the Lenawee County Air Safety Ordinance. The Airport Zoning Board has responsibility for amendments to the Air Safety Ordinance, and maintains the membership of the Airport Zoning Board of Appeals.
Membership and Staffing
The LCPC is made up of seven members appointed by the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners. In accordance with membership requirements of the County Planning Act, the members represent a cross-section of township, city, county, and education.

The LCPC is staffed by the employees of the Region 2 Planning Commission.
R2PC Staff Responsibilities
The principal responsibility of staff is to maintain and update the Lenawee County Comprehensive Land Use Plan. R2PC staff also provides the LCPC with recommendations on zoning amendments, background information on federal review projects and farmland agreement applications, meeting minutes, agendas, and staffs the Airport Zoning Board of Appeals. The staff also arranges the LCPC Planning Conference held in April each year.
