The U.S. EDA (Economic Development Administration) recently informed the R2PC (Region 2 Planning Commission) of the award of a $351 thousand CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act grant to assist businesses / institutions in their efforts to recover from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant will allow the R2PC to launch an easy-to-use interactive website as a resource for those businesses / institutions; the hiring of a Disaster Recovery Coordinator to provide direct assistance to them; and the implementation of other goals that will assist the recovery effort, including an economic development resiliency plan. Mr. Jacob Hurt, recently hired as Region 2’s Principal Planner for Economic Development, will serve as the Disaster Recovery Coordinator during the 24-month grant period.
